Denmark Pilot

This VIPV pilot equips one heavy-duty electric truck from Alex Andersen with vehicle-integrated photovoltaic (PV) modules mounted on the roof. Developed with SonoM, the pilot integrates 5 kWp of PV directly into the truck’s energy system. The demonstrator explores how onboard solar generation can support long-distance logistics, reduce charging needs, and lower operational costs and emissions.

The VIPV pilot is designed to demonstrate the electrical integration of roof-mounted PV on a heavy-duty electric truck and to evaluate how onboard solar generation can extend driving range for long-haul logistics. It also investigates how PV energy can be harvested during parking, loading, and unloading periods. In addition, the project examines how solar integration can reduce dependency on charging infrastructure and assesses the impacts on energy consumption, operating costs, and emissions compared to similar trucks without VIPV technology.

Start pilot: November 2026
End pilot: January 2029
