About
SOLAR-MOVE aims to integrate solar energy directly into vehicles and charging infrastructure so that EVs can generate part of their own electricity and rely less on the grid.

SOLAR-MOVE combines technological innovation, smart energy management, infrastructure development, regulatory support, and financial viability to accelerate the widespread adoption of solar-powered electric vehicles (EVs).
The project improves VIPV efficiency by developing advanced photovoltaic (PV) cells technologies, such as TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) and Silicon HeteroJunction (SHJ), targeting at least 26.5% efficiency. Using a “Tetris puzzle” design that allows for various application configurations, the modular designs will be made of durable, moisture-resistant materials. Zero-gap and shingling technologies are introduced to maximise energy generation, supported by improved maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms to handle variable sunlight and shading. A PV production estimation tool will enhance accuracy in urban environments. Vehicle-to-Grid and Vehicle-to-Load functions will increase flexibility and reduce grid impact. SOLAR-MOVE also addresses flexibility services, regulatory frameworks, urban planning integration, business models, and life cycle assessments to accelerate VIPV adoption.
