The article ‘Blockchain architecture for multi-site electric vehicle charging coordination‘ by O.O. Egunjobi, A. Gomes, and H. Morais, published in June 2026, introduces a platform-agnostic, event-driven architecture for multi-level EV charging coordination across several buildings.
Managing electric vehicle (EV) charging in buildings is challenging due to changing prices, power limits, contracts, and user needs. Many building-level systems do not make full use of available grid capacity. Blockchain technology can help coordinate multiple locations, but it has issues with scalability because it requires frequent updates, uses a lot of data, and faces limitations with smart contracts.
This paper presents a flexible, event-driven system for coordinating EV charging across multiple buildings. The system meets the needs of each building, respects grid import limits, and accommodates individual EV requirements.
