The pilot developed in Athens aims to enhance sustainable urban mobility by equipping two diesel garbage collection trucks from Kaoussis with PV modules, in collaboration with SonoM. By installing PV panels on the tops and sides of these vehicles, the primary goal is to utilise VIPV technology to extend the operational range of the trucks, while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions and operational energy costs.

The pilot aims to illustrate the effectiveness of PV charging stations in supporting EVs by using smart charging systems that can manage the charging process based on the availability of solar power and EV demand.
