Portugal and New Zealand Pilot
This pilot aims to improve last-mile logistics and reduce emissions. It will be tested in two site locations, one in Portugal and one in New Zealand. In Portugal, VIPV delivery vehicles will operate in real delivery conditions with SONAE, Boost Logistics, and research partner INESC ID. The demonstration measures how much solar energy extends driving range, compares new and existing PV configurations, tests and validates a new Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The Portuguese demonstrator will also text ePIPV facilities deployed at INESC ID to manage locally produced solar energy and storage. The demonstrator compares AC and DC charging solutions and evaluates how electric vehicles can support building energy management and grid flexibility services.
In New Zealand, a VIPV used by NZ Post will be tested under real delivery conditions to assess range improvement and sustainability benefits.
Start pilot: November 2026
End pilot: January 2029
